Open-source apps that replace Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets and more

ONLYOFFICE Docs is an office suite for documents, spreadsheets, presentations and forms that several people can edit together, and it opens Microsoft Office files well. You run it on your own server, or use ONLYOFFICE's separate free desktop app.

LibreOffice Calc is a spreadsheet program for tables, formulas and charts, part of the LibreOffice office suite. It is for people who need to work with spreadsheets on their own computer.

Grist is a spreadsheet that also works like a database, so each column holds one kind of data and can be filled with formulas. It is for people who want spreadsheet-style editing with more structure, and it can be self-hosted or used through a browser.

Gnumeric is a lightweight spreadsheet program for tables, formulas and statistics. It is mainly for Linux, and is fast but has fewer chart options than LibreOffice.

About this page
Replaces fully means it does the main job of these apps; Replaces partly means it covers some of it.
Licenses: every project here uses an open-source license (what each one means). Open core means some parts are paid or under another license.
GitHub stars are shown for reference. They measure popularity, not whether it replaces anything.
Verified means r/TrueOpenSource mods checked it: open-source license, maintained, and it really does the job.
